One of the many wonders of the world wide web is Picasa Web Album, and I think everyone should have an account.

It is both an online-tool and a FREE downloadable, client-side tool made by Google, allowing you to easily upload photos. I for one find it really easy to use, I think Google tools are built that way. One can quickly use those photos for other online websites like blogs and the like. I use it to store my personal private photo library too.

The free account allows one to have 1024MB of photo space. An upgraded full account are separated into 4 general plans:

1. 10GB for $20/year
2. 40GB for $75/year
3. 150GB for $250/year
4. 400GB for $500/year

For those who do not have a Picasa Web Album account yet, here are 5 easy steps to start with one of your own and begin your online photo library.

1. Create an account or sign into your Google account using your GMail username and password
at http://picasaweb.google.com.

2. At the upper left corner you'd see My Photos, My Favorites, & My Public Gallery. You can click any of these links when you've got photos uploaded into your account.

3. To begin uploading your first sets of photos, click the upload button on the upper-right side of the website.

4. You then must first choose to create a new album and/or to upload your photo into an existing album.

5. And the fifth step is to choose the actual photos and clickOK/Upload.

It was only meant to be a prototype. But 40 years after the computer mouse first scrolled its way into the public consciousness, new touch-screen technology could be about to consign the mouse to the annals of history.

The computer mouse was the creation of Doug Engelbart and his team at the Stanford Research Institute in California, who needed a simple way of controlling their computers. The result was a carved wooden block mounted on wheels, with a long cable trailing out the back. One researcher nicknamed it a mouse, and the moniker stuck.

"We thought that when it had escaped out to the world it would have a more dignified name," said Mr Engelbart. "But it didn't."

The mouse made its debut at a presentation in San Francisco in 1968 to show off a working network computer system. Before the invention of the mouse, people working on computers used a light pen, similar to those wielded by radar operators during the war, to navigate around on screen. The research team at the Institute set about finding an alternative, and went through a range of designs before finally settling on the mouse.

"We set up our experiments and the mouse won in every category, even though it had never been used before," said Mr Engelbart. "It was faster, and with it people made fewer mistakes. Five or six of us were involved in these tests, but no one can remember who started calling it a mouse. I'm surprised the name stuck."

The mouse was developed by Xerox during the 1970s, and the first commercial product was released in 1981 with the launch of the Xerox Star computer system. But it wasn't until Apple acquired the license for the mouse for $40,000 from the Standford Institute that the technology really took off. The Apple Macintosh, launched in 1984, used the mouse to good effect, and is the machine widely credited with kick-starting the home computer revolution. The mouse became the default input method on most computers for the next two decades.

However, it faces stiff competition from new technology such as gesture control and touch-screen interfaces. Apple's iPhone mobile phone has shown people the power and potential of touch-screens, and the Nintendo Wii demonstrates the simplicity of natural gestures. Companies such as HP have already started building computers that rely on touch-sensitive monitors rather than a mouse, and Microsoft, too, is experimenting with new user interfaces. Its Surface computer is a touch-screen tablet which responds to natural hand gestures, touch and physical objects.

"I very much doubt we'll be using a mouse in 40 years' time," Steve Prentice, an analyst at Gartner Research, told the Observer.

Mr Engelbart, 83, did not make a fortune from his creation, however. The patent he had on the device ran out shortly before Apple launched it to a wider audience, meaning he received no royalties for his invention. However, in 1998 he finally received recognition for his innovative design when the then president, Bill Clinton, awarded him the National Medal of Technology for creating the foundations of modern computing.

After a mission that spread over 15 days on NASA’s International Space Station (ISS), space shuttle Endeavour landed safely in California on Sunday.

Although it had been previously scheduled to touch down at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 1:18 p.m. EST, due to stormy weather Endeavour had to reroute and thus landed at Edwards Air Force Base at 4:25 p.m. EST.

The shuttle’s crew comprising seven astronauts led by commander Christopher Ferguson performed repairs on the ISS and upgraded its living quarters so that it would be capable of hosting a number of six residents instead of three. Consequently, Endeavour delivered to the space station a new bathroom, a kitchenette, an exercise machine, two sleeping quarters, a refrigerator and a recycling system that turns astronauts’ urine and sweat intro drinking water.

Moreover, last Monday, astronauts Stephen Bowen and Robert "Shane" Kimbrough performed Endeavour’s forth and final spacewalk, aimed at unjamming a massive joint that was supposed to render the power-generating solar wings on the space station's right side to face the sun. The faulty joint had resulted in limiting the amount of energy the wings produced, since it prevented them from rotating towards the sun.

Astronauts also fixed and lubricated a similar joint on the ISS’s left solar wings.

Unjamming the joint on the right solar wings had been attempted by astronauts during the third spacewalk, but the lube job was left unfinished at that time, because after lead spacewalker Heide Stefanyshyn-Piper dropped a $100,000 tool kit, the astronauts had to work with only one pair of grease guns.

The Endeavour crew also installed a video camera, a spacewalk handrail and a GPS antenna during the last mission on the ISS this year.

In addition, the space shuttle brought a new resident to the ISS to replace crew member Greg Chamitoff, a 46-year-old aeronautical engineer who spent six months on the ISS.

Sandra Magnus, a 44-year-old expert in material science and engineering, experienced her first flight into the outer space and joined station commander Mike Finke and Russian flight engineer Yuri Lonchakov on the space station.

Endeavour left its docking port on the ISS at 9:48 a.m. EST on Friday and two days later, it landed smoothly on the temporary runway at Edwards Air Force Base, since the permanent one was undergoing renovations.

The temporary runway is 12,000 feet long and 200 feet wide, which makes it approximately 3,000 feet shorter and 100 feet narrower than the permanent strip.

The rerouting delayed both reunions between astronauts and their families and the return of Endeavour to its home base. The crew is set to meet with their families Monday afternoon in Houston, while the space shuttle is set to be transported to Florida on a jumbo jet within a week, which will cost $1.8 million.

Search engine giant Google has launched their SMS search service in the Indian market.

The service is free though the user would have to pay for the SMS sent from their mobile devices.

They can conduct searches without requiring an internet package on their mobile devices.

They just have to send the query on 9773300000 mobile number and they get the answer through an SMS message itself.

This search service is not useful to conduct web searches. Instead, it can be used to find out information like movies and eating joints in the locality you are in.

For example, you can send an SMS to the number with the message ‘movie name location’. The service would respond back with the show times in theaters in that area.

It can be used with various parameters including weather information, restaurants, train schedules, currency conversions and calculations.

The Indian batsman, making his 152nd Test appearance, guided the first ball after tea down to third-man for three to move beyond Lara’s total of 11,953 runs.

Tendulkar had arrived at the crease in mid-afternoon with India well set on 146-2.

He needed just 15 to surpass Lara - his great West Indian contemporary - but quickly lost two partners, Gautam Gambhir and VVS Laxman, at the other end.

That prompted a period of rebuilding in the company of Sourav Ganguly with Tendulkar agonisingly two runs shy of the record on 13 not out at tea.

But he wasted no time after the break, easing Peter Siddle’s first delivery for three to spark jubilant scenes and a firework display.

Tendulkar went on to contribute 88 off 111 balls before edging Australia’s debutant seamer Siddle to slip late in the day to leave his overall tally at 12,027.

“It has taken me 19 years to get the record,” said Tendulkar, who made his debut in 1989 as a 16-year-old.

“It can’t happen overnight.

“It has been a fantastic journey. There have been ups and downs in the process of success.”

The 2009 edition reveals Edna Parker (US) as the Oldest Living Person (114 years and 115 days); 105-year old Edith Gulliford (UK) as the Oldest Bridesmaid; and for canine lovers, the Longest Dog, Irish Wolfhound Mon Ami von der Oelmühle, with an impressive nose-to-tail-tip length of 232 cm (91.3 in).

In the cinematic arena, a number of high calibre stars achieved amazing feats. Samuel L Jackson set the record for the Highest Grossing Actor with a whopping 68 movies at a total gross of $7.42 billion (£3.94 billion). Fans of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp (both USA) can celebrate that the actor/director union between the two became the Most Lucrative Movie Partnership ever formed, as their five blockbuster films netted an amazing £287m ($570.6million). Angelina Jolie seizes last year’s shared record from Jennifer Aniston and goes solo as Most Powerful Actress.

Meanwhile, Jolie’s husband (and Aniston’s ex) Brad Pitt topples Tom Cruise as Most Powerful Actor, clearly crowning “Brangelina” Hollywood’s most powerful couple. Other record-breakers include the 21 Bond movies and Transformers (USA, 2007) which mark the Highest Grossing Movie Series and Most Downloaded Movie respectively.

From the world of television, the new edition recognizes Lost (ABC) as the Most Downloaded Show of all time, however, in a bizarre record twist it loses its title for Most Popular TV Show to hospital drama House (Fox), starring Hugh Laurie (UK) as the unconventional maverick Dr Gregory.

In the world of music, fallen pop princess Britney Spears once again creates headlines as she beats party pal Paris Hilton as the Most Searched Person on the Internet. The UK can also pride itself on an impressive line-up of British music record-breakers in the upcoming book.

The Sugababes’ single ‘About You Now’ became the First Track by a British Pop Act to Top the Singles Chart solely on the strength of download sales and broke long standing record Biggest Chart Mover to the No.1 Position in the UK jumping from No. 35 to top spot beating previous record Captian Sensible’s ‘Happy Talk’ from 1982. X Factor winner Leona Lewis seized the spot for Best Selling Debut Album in the UK in One Week by a Female with her debut album Spirit, also creating another new record for Fastest Selling Album to Reach 1 Million Copies in the UK by a Female Artist.

Singer and tabloid favourite Amy Wine house made it into Guinness World Records 2009 through her achievement for the Most Grammy Awards Won by a British female Act as she took home five of the six awards that she was nominated for at the annual LA Grammy Awards show in 2008. However, it’s not just the rising stars of the UK who receive accolades in this year’s edition; Led Zeppelin broke the world record for the Highest Demand for Tickets for One Music Concert when 20million requests came through the 02 Arena for the one-time reunion show in December2007.

Sir Paul McCartney became the Most Successful Songwriter who has written/co written 188 charted records, of which 91 reached the Top 10 and 33 made it to No.1 totalling 1,662 weeks on the chart (up to the beginning of 2008)

Those who count on Guinness World Records to deliver the wacky, weird and bizarre will not be disappointed! This year’s edition includes the world record for the Youngest Club DJ(7 years and 98 days) the Most Breast Milk Donated by 1 Person (135.5 litres), the Largest Underwater Press Conference (61 journalists) and the Most Dangerous Cheese to human health, Casu Marzu (''rotten cheese'').

The 2009 Edition also presents a special feature devoted solely to the international phenomenon known as Guinness World Records Day. This day celebrates the anniversary of Guinness World Records officially becoming the biggest best selling copyright book of all time. Last year more than 100,000 people united across the globe to break records and make their mark in Guinness World Records history. This section of the book highlights all of the new achievements recorded on this day in 2007 and provides information on how to get involved with Guinness World Records Day 2008 on 13th November.

(1) The Woman Who has 200 Orgasms every day

UK's Sarah Carmen, 24, is a 200-a-day orgasm girl who gets good, good, GOOD vibrations from almost anything. She suffers from Permanent Sexual Arousal Syndrome (PSAS), which increases blood flow to the sex organs. "Sometimes I have so much sex to try to calm myself down I get bored of it. And men I sleep with don't seem to make as much effort because I climax so easily."

She believes her condition was brought on by the pills. "Within a few weeks I just began to get more and more aroused more and more of the time and I just kept having endless orgasms. It started off in bed where sex sessions would last for hours and my boyfriend would be stunned at how many times I would orgasm. Then it would happen after sex. I'd be thinking about what we'd done in bed and I'd start feeling a bit flushed, then I'd become aroused and climax. In six months I was having 150 orgasms a day—and it has been as many as 200."

She and her boyfriend split— and new partners struggle to keep up with her sex demands. "Often, I'll want to wear myself out by having as many orgasms as I can so they stop and I can get some peace," she said.

(2) The Man Who Can't Get Fat

Mr Perry, 59, can eat whatever he likes - including unlimited pies, burgers and desserts - and never get fat. He cannot put on weight because of a condition called lipodystrophy that makes his body rapidly burn fat.

He used to be a chubby child, but at age 12 the fat dropped off "almost over night". He initially tried to eat more to gain weight, but it had no effect. Mr Perry, of Ilford in Essex, endured a decade of tests before the illness was diagnosed. It finally emerged that his body produces six times the normal level of insulin. Doctors have admitted that the condition would be a "slimmer's dream".

(3) The Man Who Doesn't Feel Cold

Dutchman Wim Hof, also known as the Iceman, is the man that swam under ice, and stood in bins filled with ice. He climbed the Mt. Blanc in shorts in the icy cold, harvested world records and always stands for new challenges.

Scientists can't really explain it, but the 48-year-old Dutchman is able to withstand, and even thrive, in temperatures that could be fatal to the average person.

(4) The Boy Who Couldn't Sleep: stayed awake 24 hours a day for years

Rhett Lamb is often cranky like any other 3-year-old toddler, but there's one thing that makes him completely different: he has a rare medical condition in which he can't sleep a wink.

Rhett is awake nearly 24 hours a day, and his condition has baffled his parents and doctors for years. They took clock shifts watching his every sleep-deprived mood to determine what ailed the young boy.

After a number of conflicting opinions, Shannon and David Lamb finally learned what was wrong with their child: Doctors diagnosed Rhett with an extremely rare condition called chiari malformation.

"The brain literally is squeezed into the spinal column. What happens is you get compression, squeezing, strangulating of the brain stem, which has all the vital functions that control sleep, speech, our cranial nerves, our circulatory system, even our breathing system," Savard said.

(5) The Girl Who is Allergic to Water

Teenager Ashleigh Morris can't go swimming, soak in a hot bath or enjoy a shower after a stressful day's work - she's allergic to water. Even sweating brings the 19-year-old out in a painful rash.

Ashleigh, from Melbourne, Australia, is allergic to water of any temperature, a condition she's lived with since she was 14. She suffers from an extremely rare skin disorder called Aquagenic Urticaria - so unusual that only a handful of cases are documented worldwide.

(6) The Woman Who Can't Forget

That's the story of AJ, an extraordinary 40-year-old married woman who remembers everything.

McGaugh and fellow UCI researchers Larry Cahill and Elizabeth Parker have been studying the extraordinary case of a person who has "nonstop, uncontrollable and automatic" memory of her personal history and countless public events. If you randomly pick a date from the past 25 years and ask her about it, she'll usually provide elaborate, verifiable details about what happened to her that day and if there were any significant news events on topics that interested her. She usually also recalls what day of the week it was and what the weather was like.

The 40-year-old woman, who was given the code name AJ to protect her privacy, is so unusual that UCI coined a name for her condition in a recent issue of the journal Neurocase: hyperthymestic syndrome.

(7) The Girl Who Eats Only Tic Tacs

Meet Natalie Cooper, a 17-year-old teenager who has a mystery illness that makes her sick every time she eats anything. Well, almost anything. She can eat one thing that doesn't make her sick: Tic tac mint!

For reasons that doctors are unable to explain, Tic tacs are the only thing she can stomach, meaning she has to get the rest of her sustenance from a specially formulated feed through a tube.

(8) The Musician Who Can't Stop Hiccupping

Chris Sands, 24, from Lincoln, hiccups as often as every two seconds - and sometimes even when he is asleep. He has tried a variety of cures, including hypnosis and yoga, but nothing has worked. Mr Sands thinks his problem stems from an acid reflux condition caused by a damaged valve in his stomach. "If the acid levels are severe enough they are going to do keyhole surgery and grab part of my stomach and wrap it around the valve to tighten it," he said.

Mr Sands, who is a backing singer in the group Ebullient, said the condition has hampered his career as he has only been able to perform four times. In the next couple of weeks --as of the day of the report--, doctors at Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre will put a tube into his stomach to monitor acid levels and decide if keyhole surgery is possible.

(9) The Girl That Collapses Every Time She Laughs

Kay Underwood, 20, has cataplexy, which means that almost any sort of strong emotion triggers a dramatic weakening of her muscles.
